I pride myself in being ...
Cape Town / Durban based; photographer, wife, daughter, animal lover, chocolate and coffee addict! Those closest to me will more likely than not describe me as an organizational ninja, a neat freak and a perfectionist at heart. I'm that person who can't start my day without making my bed and who packs and triple checks my bags before leaving the house ...
I absolutely love all things girly but when it comes down to the nitty gritty stuff, I welcome it with open arms. I'm not afraid of getting my hair wet or getting down and dirty if it means I can get the results I know my clients want! My family loves getting back to nature, which is why trips to the KwaZulu Natal Midlands and camping excursions are a regular occurrence in our home! This is why my favourite place to be and to shoot is outdoors at a picturesque location with beautiful natural light.
After matriculating in 2015, having taken triple Science as my set subjects in school, I made a complete career change. I attended VEGA (an educational brand of The Independent Institute of Education (Pty) Ltd) for a year where I studied photography and developed my technical and practical skills further. Over the years I have been fortunate enough to have worked alongside a number of talented South African photographers who have taught, encouraged and pushed me to become the photographer I am today.
If I'm not out on location with my camera in my hand you're likely to find me outside in the garden tending to my succulents, playing tug-of-war with the dogs or with my family.
Our story began when we matched on Tinder over 8 years ago. After two weeks of Whats-app messages and voice notes back and forth, we met for coffee where we got to know each other even better in person. Ever since then he has been a part of my life.
He is my biggest supporter, motivator and the best assistant on all my sessions. He is always willing to help. Be it sacrificing a sleep-in to get up at the crack of dawn for a sunrise session or spending 12 hours on his feet alongside me at a wedding carrying equipment, making sure I stay on schedule, demonstrating to clients how I would like them to interact or pose all whilst ensuring I stay well hydrated and fed so I can give my clients the best version of myself.
There is more to Trent though apart from being the best husband and assistant! He's also a Civil Technician by trade who loves problem solving and learning new design software. In his spare time he's a passionate and avid PC gamer who also enjoys the occasional pint or two of an ice cold blonde ale.
This is Snig-E-wig aka Wiggles (my in-laws dog who I have claimed to be mine) and she brings me so much joy. When we lived in Durban, we loved going for runs together but she was also a great assistant in the garden and always showed interest in what was doing. If she wasn't fast asleep by my side, she'd be trying her best to get my attention to play with her which was more often than not me chasing her for the ball.
I've always been very close with my parents. They are also my biggest supporters and I wouldn't be where I am today without them.
My first camping trip was at 18 months old in Newcastle. It was so cold that icicles formed on the roof of the caravan that my dad had to keep me wrapped up in his arms all night. My childhood holidays were spent camping at Mountain Splendour Caravan Park in the Central Drakensberg where many great friendships formed over the years.
